West Johnston Proudly Presents Their 2009 Production

The West Johnston High School band program was established in the Fall of 2002 with the opening of West Johnston High School. The West Johnston High School band program is comprised of various components that perform and compete at the local, state and national levels. This program offers students a comprehensive educational experience through music, performance, life lessons and opportunities that extend beyond a traditional classroom.

Under the guidance of Directors Mr. M. Lance Britt , Mr. David S. Duffy, and Mr. Garrett L. Griffin The West Johnston Band Program has already influenced hundreds of high school students.

Our students have learned that with hard work and dedication anything is possible. Rewards for this dedication include travel and performance throughout our nation, representing Johnston County and the State of North Carolina.

Since the Fall of 2002, the band program has had  several top place finishes at Bands of America and WGI events, and at state and local competitions. In 2005, the band was chosen to be North Carolina's only representative to the 55th Presidential Inaugural Parade.

Last year, the band was chosen to march in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. As part of the reward for their hard work, the band (and many of the band parents) celebrated the holidays in New York City, attending numerous shows, tours and cruises on the Hudson River.
